Ergon
Ergon
is the new trademark by Emilceramica specially dedicated to unglazed
porcelain stoneware. It was set up in 1991, but became an independent
trademark only on 1st January 2004. Ergon is the outcome of an overall
research project which has involved the whole company, from the raw
material research to the departments which design the production plants.
As well as its excellent aesthetic qualities inspired by natural
products, Ergon has special properties in terms of mechanical and
chemical strength and cleanability that remain constant over time. These
features make Ergon the first new generation of fine porcelain stoneware
THE RAW MATERIALS
A careful choice of the raw materials of top quality standard,
backed up by analysis laboratories equipped for mineralogical and
chemical testing, guarantee a first class product with strictly
controlled physical-chemical properties
BODY
MIX PREPARATION AND SPRAY-DRYING
Modern automated plants are set up to prepare the raw materials,
treated within the company by the Eracles Technical Ceramics department.
Spray drying the drying of the body by means of the spray dryer - is
carried out using an exclusive Emilceramica technology, and it is in
this phase that the natural colour nuances in Ergon tiles originate
PRESSING
The dry pressing phase is performed using powerful isostatic
pressing units with patented mobile moulds of in-house design. These
innovative plants allow production of a complete line of products using
the double-loading technology, a method which gives the pressed material
unique, innovative features.
FIRING
The production process continues with firing of the pressed
material. Ergon uses roller kilns of its own design and production. The
material is fired at 1230°C for a time longer than the conventional
standards. Ergon reaches complete vitrification, eliminating all
residues of porosity and thus achieving the aim of a perfectly uniform,
non-absorbent surface
POLISHING
The majority of the Ergon polishing process takes place inside the
company's plants, with rigorous quality control. This process shows the
hardness of the body and the easy stain removal unmatched by any other
polished product .
